Something happened that hasn't happened in a long time...I've been feeling very creative! It's been so fun but as usual I can't focus on any one thing-- I'm all over the place.
First I have been really interested in making bags and purses. I made an apron for my friend Marissa in September. It turned out so cute and I loved the fabric so much and had a little left over so I made a bag with the extras. I used an Amy Butler swing bag pattern and it turned out really cute. I handcut a felt bird and embroidered on it to dress the bag up a little (sorry no photo...). Then a few days later I took a quilting class, my first official class. Meridy has taught me all I know to date so I was nervous that this advanced class would be way over my head. But the teacher, Ann Turley, was professional and fabulous. I had such a great time and finished the center portion of my Seismic Activity during the class. The fun thing about the class was that we learned how to sew "free form" curves. I was totally inspired by the concept and couldn't wait to try it on a different medium--a tote bag of course.
I bought a disgusting box of old buttons (the day before the quilt class), they smelled horrible, some had rotted completely away leaving a gross powder over everything. I rumaged through the box and found several treasures. I washed everything and discovered that most of my find consisted of my favorite mustard color! I began to feel the creative juices surging at this point. I remembered I had a piece of salvaged fabric I'd been wanting to use I put them all together and voila, here's my free form curves, rescued fabric, vintage buttons tote bag!
I can hardly clean house or make dinner, I've just had the bug and I want to do more. More bags, more quilts, more cards, more button bouquets, more creating! I haven't felt this way in years. Really. It's fun and satisfying too. I'm going to sell a few of my creations at a craft fair in November and if not I'll give them away for Christmas. I know my daughters want them all so who knows, maybe they'll be around to enjoy a little longer.

How fun! That yellow bag is super cute! These days it seems most of my creativity goes to entertaining Naomi during diaper changes so she doesn't spend the whole time screaming and trying to roll away :) Actually, I'm working on a couple of scrapbook projects that I'm excited about, but I don't have as much time for them as I'd like (isn't that the story of life).
First of all - yay! You made another post!
Second - totally cute bag...I love what you did, but I always do.
Third- I find it hard to believe that anything would be over your head!
I saw a cute bag on someone's blog once (and can't find it since) that was made from pillowcases. Sooo cute - I should have you make one for me!
Super cute bag!! You are amazingly talented. I love the colors too. Such fun things!!
