Truman had a friend over today. It's a cute boy named Sebastian, they have been friends since last year and Truman has spent a lot of time at Sebastian's house. Sebastian's dad is a surgeon and they live in a great, well fantastic house (on the hill). I always feel a little like a peasant returning to reality when I pick Truman up and bring him back down to our house. Now these are great people and we love them and I'm so glad Truman has good friends to hang out with but I feel a little self conscious about my own living quarters compared to theirs--a bad habit I've had all my life, comparing...
Anyway, we were tiling our house since last March. It's been a very long process and I've even been more self conscious about my home with everything displaced and bookcases on the front porch and overall disarray. So I never invited Sebastian over, ok, well I would say we should have him over but it was half-hearted at best. So I finally got the courage and had him over. And he proved to be quite the lovely child I thought he was, he had fun, never asked why we didn't have baseboards or where the rest of the house was or anything embarrasing. But the best thing was that James overheard Truman ask Sebastian if he liked our house and Sebastian said that he did and Truman said, "Good because I like your house too."
I like kids who like to be here, I think I'll ask this kid to come back once in awhile, just for fun.

I like the "he never asked where the rest of the house is" part! You're funny!
The thing about your house is that it is filled with warmth and love and a good spirit, so you could live in a shack and people would be comfortable there!
