What a weird few months! As we have openly worked for the Protect Marriage Coalition we have learned a lot about ourselves and our neighbors. We have learned things we wished we could forget but we have also seen so many amazing things. One of the most amazing things were the strong feelings our children have about standing for truth and righteousness. They are not afraid to say what they believe in any setting. Reilly has been adamant that people know what she believes and wears bumper stickers on her clothing, binder, laptop, and backpack. Libby wears a bumper sticker almost daily and passes them out to the kids she is friends with at school. Both girls write papers for English classes about this issue. I am proud of my children. I like that Libby wakes up each morning and looks to see if the signs out front have been stolen (again) and replaces them. Noah goes out at the crack of dawn to put signs up around town. And Truman preaches to anyone who will listen that he has a divine nature and salt can't marry salt and pepper can't marry pepper. Salt and pepper were made for each other.
Whatever happens in California on Tuesday we know we have done our best, we have fasted, worked, called, delivered, taught, reminded, demonstrated, etc. The work isn't over and we will not rest until it is, even if that means for the rest of our lives. As our bishop told James yesterday, our ladders lean on the Lord's wall--why not climb them? We are blessed and we are thankful to be alive today.

Jess served in Long Beach when the first vote took place how many years ago and he remembers taking copies of The Family Proclaimation out to people in the community there. Keep up the good work!
